An amusing but Real Description of some of San Diego’s North County Cities!

First of all in all fairness there are many many San Diego’s Best Neighborhoods North County and Inland. But this way I can do various blogs and your eyes won’t get crossed from reading. I am very familiar with San Diego’s Best Neighborhoods especially North County! The tour begins with Cardiff by the Sea. I once had a buyer from Dallas that decided that he only wanted to live in San Diego North County if he could live in Cardiff by the Sea. His wife literally had a dog named Little Lea and she wanted to say Little Lea lives in Cardiff By the Sea. Takes all kinds in life!! Regardless this little city that you can blink and miss has its own zip code and its own attitude. 92007. With its sloping hills offering great ocean views and its charming teeny village and wonderful market (Cardiff Seaside Market of course) it’s holding well to its value as properties have never really dropped drastically.

San Diego Magazine Best Neighborhoods research states that Cardiff home price (median) is $617,000. I promise you that $617,00 will barely get you a condo in that zip code. Where do they get these prices??? This is a gem of San Diego’s Best Neighborhoods in North County though and it actually had almost 2% appreciation last year. That’s a good thing!! It also belongs to top rated San Diguieto School District where class sizes are about 17.5 kids. Amazing these days!!! A statue of the Cardiff Kook Greets you upon driving into the little village. Seriously, where else?

Going straight South you hit another one of San Diego’s Best Neighborhoods North County – Solana Beach. I’m partial as that is where I live and with its population of about 12,800 its friendly coastal feel has a lot to offer. First of all our neighbor to the South Del Mar is run by a very interesting City Council who decided they no longer wanted the TRAIN to stop in their village, God forbid they should have more BUSINESS for their merchants and endless Real Estate Companies, so Solana Beach said Yes, Please we will take the TRAIN and so now there is a state of the art train station right on the border of our Cedros Design District. Our one street full of shops, restaurants and Designer Furniture Stores is walking distance to the beach and draws tourists all times of the year! Again Median home price is totally wrong at $697,000 as in one of San Diego’s Best Neighborhoods -North County- this will get you a town home or condo, a house “not so much”…The High $800,000 will put you in a good neighborhood, again with fabulous schools system, but the house will not be grand! We again had some appreciation in the last year of about 2% – climbing very slowly, but steady! We are just 5 minutes from downtown Del Mar and we get to be included in the “fancy pants” area but pay a bit less for our properties.

With the addition of Whole Foods in our Flower Hills Shopping Center we are now really playing with the big boys! A great place to live and hang out in a beautiful coastal community.

Stay Tuned- Lots more to come…fingers getting tired! Too much at once is too much at once!
